Yesterday it was confirmed: THE COUPLE GOT PREGNANT!
I had to bother the center a few times to get the final results but how wonderful!
It does speak to my own fertility, which is comforting. Plus, the minor discomfort I felt after surgery was worth it knowing the couple has a real chance at starting a family.
Yesterday I received a call asking if I wanted to be a donor again. After a few hours of thought, plus days of considering it in the past month, I called the center and confirmed I would be willing to go through another cycle. My profile will be sent to couples this week. I wouldn't start this cycle until mid-June. Of course I could not be chosen... that is a possibility.
I'm curious as to whether or not anyone found the blog helpful. I do enjoy documenting my life but I'm not sure a second cycle would be interesting to anyone after reading about the first? Comments, thoughts would be nice.

I don't think I'll be donating my eggs any time soon, but it was enjoyable to read. And I'm sure that there will be more women in your situation that would be more than happy to read an account, like you took, of the whole thing.
hey! thanks for the add and randomly (although I mentioned it in my list) I too am going to be an egg donor. I just found out that I was picked last week. I plan on starting to talk about it on my blog starting Friday. And you made a 101 list (although I imagine that is how you found my blog) and you are moving to Chicago?! Freaky. :-P
By the way, I really like your list and the running map thing you have posted. Usually I just plop it out on Google. Might start using it. All around, glad I found your blog!
lauren, how crazy. i did find your blog through the 101 things site but i look forward even more to reading your experiences with egg donation. let me know if you have any questions or what not about my experience!
and, yes, i'll be moving to chicago in august for law school!
You said that you were thinking about doing a second set so I wanted to let you know that conceive abilities (the egg-donor-company/place I am going through here in Chicago) pays $8k. You mentioned on one of your old posts getting $4k (but that might have just been a partial payment).
I enjoyed looking through your old posts about it. I am feeling concerned about the pain aspect, but I think it is a nice thing to do.
Just want to say "Thank You" for doing the ED. We are one of those folks needing helps like yours.
I just went through you blog and I too want to thank you for your generous donation. My husband and I are only 26 years old and started trying to start a family at 25 after we married (college sweethearts). We learned that I have premature ovarian failure. Mine is not the genetic disorder, as they tested for it, I was just born with less eggs. We've done one round of IVF and got no eggs. We're going to try another cycle with my eggs but may end up in need of a donor. I feel like often times people think of these egg recipients as older women. I wanted to let any of you girls out there thinking about doing this that we're not all older mothers. I'm a 26 year old who really tried to put a family first. I do have my MBA and am working my way up the corporate ladder but would give it all up for a family. Funny how similar we are in that I too am a runner and live in IL ;) I promise if we end up needing a donor, my child will have fun, energetic, and loving parents. Although we will go the anonymous route as well, that child will know how wonderful and generous the person was who donated eggs. Thank you!
your blog has helped me alot.......i tooo am a first time donor.......alot of questions has been answered thru ur blog.............thanks alot
